We moved to a small mountain community in Andalucia on our wedding anniversary, Sept 4th 2005. It was our first wedding anniversary. It means that my husband is less likely to forget the date!
With Dylan and Bruno (Westie and Labrador Bruno now sadly deceased Christmas 2009) and our two youngest children, we moved into a house that had been only the fourth or fifth house we viewed in Spain. It is in a beautiful valley on the outskirts of a town called Monda. My husband has since written a historical novel based on the Battle of Munda, which was said to have taken place here between Julius Caesar and Pompey’s sons. His book is called ‘Libertas’. It's about 'the freedom Caesar couldn't kill'. His book will be in the shops beginning of Feb 2009. I couldn't put it down once i started reading, it really is brilliant.
We felt that life was ‘going perfectly to plan’ -- perhaps more of a universal plan. Maybe the ‘Law of Attraction’ would be a better way to describe it. For people who have read about such things, including ‘The Secret’, you will know what I mean.
A few months after settling into our home we acquired two black kittens, now called Achilles and Sparticus. They had been dumped in a dustbin leaving Achilles with a broken leg, which required a metal rod inserting, and a broken tail. These two are now such a large part of our lives (I was never a cat person before), and they go with Dylan and Bruno on their nightly walk. Watching them stroll out in the country together is just like a scene from the film ‘The Incredible Journey’! The cats are now bilingual and, judging by the way they act, they think they are dogs too!.
At the end of the valley is the town of Monda, on the mountain behind it stands Monda Castle.
